The course is focused on reading and analysing short prose written in English. The chosen materials consist primarily of the works of modern or even contemporary English and American authors. The textual analysis is based on traditional critical approaches, but also on the modern (more pragmatic) methodologies, aimed at the development of critical thinking and the language skills of the students.

Kurs je zaměřený na četbu a analýzu anglických krátkých prozaických textů. Až na několik výjimek se jedná o díla současných autorů. Analýza textů vychází jak z tradičních kritických postupů, tak z moderních (pragmatičtěji zaměřených) metod, jejichž cílem je především rozvíjení kritického myšlení a jazykových dovedností studentů.
