This is a one-semester course dealing with various issues concerning American history, geographic specifics, the system of government, and the legislative and educational systems. However, the main emphasis will be placed on cultural studies, i.e., a detailed analysis of American society as a model of the coexistence of various ethnic groups and cultural enclaves. An integral part of the seminars also entails listening to chosen political and other public speeches, and watching video-recordings dealing with the above-mentioned issues.
