This is the first introductory linguistic course, providing elements of theoretical linguistic education. It focuses on the essential linguistic terminology, concepts, relations, and frameworks. It gives an account of individual linguistic levels and units, outlines the essential linguistic disciplines, introduces students to the basics of historical development of languages (and English), of language typology, and language variation.

Toto je úvodní lingvistický kurz, který zprostředkuje základy teoretického lingvistického vzdělání. Je zaměřen na základní lingvistickou terminologii, pojmy, vztahy a rámce. Probírá jednotlivé jazykové roviny a jejich jednotky, podává přehled o základních lingvistických disciplinách, uvádí studenty do základů, historického vývoje jazyků, (zejména angličtiny), typologie jazyků a jednotlivých variant jazyka.
