Firstly, this course focuses on the question concerning the origins and qualities of American culture. Secondly, it introduces students to history and individual aspects of American culture. Thirdly, it intends to familiarise the students with some aspects and issues of the contemporary US and also to develop and improve students' language skills.

2. presentation (individual 20-minute long presentations on selected topics)

3. four short essays, of 200-250 words each.

4. final test based on the material studied in class and acquired by means of presentations (20 multiple-choice questions

in Part A; then some questions requiring a few sentences for answers in Part B), 70% min. to pass)

5. The Presentation will count as 50% of the mark, the three best essays will count for 10% each, and the final test for 20%.
