Lagrangian approach to Earth's rotation. Woolard's theory

Euler angles as the generalized coordinates, Euler's kinematical equations, Poisson's equations, their alternative form, solution of Poisson's equations, precession, nutation, nutational frequencies, dynamical flattening.

Rotation of a non-rigid Earth. Basic aspects

Rigid reference frame, deformational angular momentum, Tisserand axes, nutation frame, Liouville equations, linearization, excitation functions, angular momentum functions.
