The aim of the course is to introduce methodology of engineering geological survey from preparation to implementation and presentation of results. Students will get acquainted with the basic terms and definitions, the EG model of the environment, the main genetic types of soil, the basic principles of EG mapping, the essentials of the research project, with the scope of preparatory work and administrative duties, and learn to work with archive sources. The lectures also introduce the basics of EG mapping, methods of individual types of field research work, ways and examples of processing survey results, contents and structure of a final results report. The course also contains examples of individual types of exploration projects from practice and detailed insights into the necessary legislative regulations and obligations in the implementation of EG survey.

The main focus of the course is to get acquainted with individual types and methods of probing works, field tests and measurements in boreholes, underground and terrain surfaces, basic methods of geophysical and hydrogeological survey realized within EG survey etc. During practical exercises students acquire knowledge of engineering geological maps and creation of engineering geological model of the environment.
