Main target of the lecture is give a short outline of the hydrogeology in atractive and understandable way not only for the future hydrogeologists but also for other specialists. Graduate a subject of hydrogeology suppose the grammar school knowledges of the chemistry and mathematics.

  • Introduction - what is Hydrogeology, history of the hydrogeology, organization scheme of czech hydrogeology
  • Basic terms in hydraulics, hydrological cycle, porosity, permeability, groundwater movements, amin equation of flow
  • Principles of hydrochemistry, groundwater compositions, chemical reactions
  • Regional hydrogeology of Czech republic - qualitative and quantitative description of main aquifers in Czech republic
  • Mineral waters in Czech republic - qualitative and quantitative description of main sources of mineral water, their exploitation and protection
  • Applied hydrogeology - exploitation of groundwater resources and principles of their protection, introduction to contaminant hydrogeology, overview of the remediation technics

Practical skills:
Calculation of water balance components, hydrologic equation, separation of baseflow, use of Darcy´s law, hydraulic tests.
