Biochemistry III (b) is aimed at older students of the Master's program of Teacher Education of Chemistry. The lecture should help students prepare for the final exam in biochemistry at the Department of Chemical Education.
The lecture deals with the area of general biochemistry in the context of the main topics of the national RVP framework program.

At least 80% attendance and presentation of the given biochemical topic is required. To pass the exam, it is also necessary to pass a comprehensive test and an oral exam.

• Carbohydrates: classification, structure, function

• Amino acids: classification, structure, properties, peptides

• Proteins: structure, distribution, complex proteins

• Enzymes: classification, reaction equilibrium, enzyme kinetics, inhibition, regulation (allosteric)

• Nucleic acids: building blocks, types, structure

• Replication, transcription, translation, protein synthesis

• Lipids and biomembranes: classification, properties and function, metabolism (β-oxidation), biosynthesis, bile acids, ketone bodies

• Vitamins, cofactors and "macroergic 'compounds, muscle contraction

• Glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, Pentose cycle

• Oxidative decarboxylation, citric acid cycle, respiratory chain (oxidative vs substrate phosphorylation)

• Basic relations in metabolism, classification of organisms, catabolism, anabolism

• Human biochemistry I: digestion (enzymes), proteolysis, proteases, blood (O2 transport, hemoglobin, erythrocyte)
