!!! N.B. LECTURES ARE DELIVERED IN CZECH LANGUAGE. EXAMINATION POSSIBLE IN CZECH OR ENGLISH. Basic course of molecular biology deals primarily with two most important classes of biological macromolecules - nucleic acids and proteins. Static aspects involve discussion of the structure of macromolecules and their complexes (DNA binding proteins, protein complexes, molecular motors). Dynamic aspects include classical chapters on DNA replication, transcription, translation, folding and posttranslational modifications of proteins, and their cellular transport. Molecular mechanisms underlying selected cellular processes such as regulation of the cell cycle, apoptosis, membrane transport, cellular signaling and integration of cells into tissues and organs are also covered.
