However, adequate popularization activities form a necessary channel of communication between the scientific community and the general public. Being able to present one's own research in a coherent and convincing manner is one of the most important skills. |

The exam will take the form of an online test on Moodle. The answers will be text in a randomly drawn variant within a time limit of one hour. Part of the exam will consist of shooting a short movie, e.g., by smartphone (you will learn the details in time during the lecture). |

The topics of the theoretical lecture will cover the common pitfalls of natural sciences communication in the Czech and world media or personal communication, typically a lecture for the general public. The main areas include:
What are the forms of popularization and what is the real impact? Main communication channels for the Czech Republic. Audience definition and text or campaign targeting settings. Output timing and planning task. Why documents on Netflix look better than most content on Youtube. How to choose the title of a popular article? Work with your own talent and disability. How to cope with fear. Adjusting the viewer's attention and working with its decline. Working with the attention of a TV show viewer vs. readers. Social networks as a good servant but a bad master. Why a hamster sells better than a cockroach. And why even a cockroach can be sold more expensive than two hamsters. Media revival of inanimate nature. Basic technical equipment for popularization video and science photography. Model examples of successful recent popularization projects. |
