The aim of the elective course is to give a concise information about the causes, origination, and methods of study of the structural and functional abnormalities that arise during prenatal development. A special reference will be given to detection and prevention of inborn defects in human population. The lectures are based on the concept of the basic developmental processes and risk assessment procedures dealing with environmental hazard. Practical part of the selective course will be focused on the induction of embryotoxicity phenomena in chick embryos, and analysis of selected cases provided by the teratology information service (CZTIS).
