Antiviral Drug Discovery is an advanced course that brings a comprehensive overview of antiviral drugs approved
over the past decades, focusing on research and development of effective antiviral treatment against current and
emerging viruses such as HIV, HBV, HCV, HSV, HCMV, HPV, RSV, VZV, and influenza virus. The course is
oriented primarily to the needs of biology and biomedical students at the upper undergraduate and advanced
academic degrees (Master and Ph.D. candidates) who wish to expand their knowledge in antiviral drug discovery
and medicinal chemistry. The students will have the opportunity to learn what has been done to develop
successful antiviral therapy, the drawbacks along the way and the tactical aspects of problem solving in antiviral
drug design.
