The lectures can be given in English. The aim of the course is to make students acquainted in detail with the evolutionary lineage labelled bryophytes. The phylogenetic origin of bryophytes, fossil discoveries. Past and recent systems - principles, overview. Systematic overview of classes, orders, and selected families of individual groups of liverworts, hornworts, and mosses - characteristics, occurrence, geographic distribution, and main representatives, with special consideration for European flora.
