The course familiarises students with developmental tendencies of the photographic medium
(with the emphasis on news and documentary photography). We present photographic styles and photographers who have significantly influenced the development of photography, discuss problems associated with the advent of digital technology and their influence on the development of photography. We also introduce basic theoretical concepts. We expect active participation of students in classes and self-study of recommended literature and monographs, including visits to photographic exhibitions
