Předmět seznamuje studenty s poznatky v oblasti léčiv přírodního původu (rostliny,mikroorganismy, živočišné produkty) a to z hlediska poznání chemické struktury účinných látek, jejich biosyntézy, možností jejich technologického získávání i terapeutického použití v humánní a veterinární medicíně. Získávají zde rovněž poznatky o zákonných normách a specifikách, které řídí jejich použití
