Internal Medicine I course is focused on cardiology and pneumology and is based on self-study, seminars and practical classes.

Learning objectives (knowledge and clinical skills):  

  1.  The essential knowledge clinical cardiology and pneumology.  

  1.  Training in clinical examination, differential diagnosis and therapy in cardiology and pneumology. 

  1.  Ability to perform basic emergency resuscitation using an automated defibrillator.

Self-study: Students will prepare for selected seminars by self-study.  

 

Moodle tests: Before the selected seminars, students have to pass the tests in Moodle 

 

Atendence at seminars and practical classes  

A maximum of two excused absences are allowed, excuses must be sent exclusively in advance to the excuse form. In the event of a higher number of absences, the situation will be resolved individually with the head of the Department of Internal Medicine.   

 

Credit test in Moodle  

It focuses on the knowledge of cardiology and pneumology in the extend defined by final state exam topics. The required success rate i ≥ 70%, students can receive a 10% bonus for successfully passed tests before the seminars.

Practicals:

Students complete 11 practicals focusing on the following topics:

Cardiology (7 practicals):

Practicals in cardiology are held at the workplaces of the I. Internal Cardiology Clinic. During the practical, students will be demonstrated model cases of the most common diagnoses: Ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, thromboembolic disease, ischemic disease of the lower extremities.

Pneumology (3 practicals):

Practicals in pneumology are conducted in the departments of the Pulmonary Clinic. During the practical students learn about the most common diseases of the respiratory tract, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on typical cases.

CPR practical (1 practical):

The cardiopulmonary resuscitation practicals focuses on practical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
