Internal medicine - dental medicine

The subject aims to teach student basic clinical examination used in different fields of internal medicine. There are lectures dedicated to history taking and physical examination. The practical take place mainly in 2nd internal department. During practicals students practice physical examination, learn and practice interaction between patient and physician. Special attention is driven to ethical problems.

Lectures are dedicated to:

Clinical examination, ECG: Medical history (family history, personal history, work and social history, present disease).
Vital signs assessment. Examination of the skin. Examination of the lungs and heart. Examination of the abdomen and lower extremities. Electrocardiography.
Cardiology and angiology: Arterial hypertension. Atherosclerosis. Acute coronary syndrome. Chronic ischemic heart disease. Heart failure. Valvular heart disease. Infective endocarditis. Peripheral arterial disease. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Antithrombotic and anticoagulation therapy.
Pulmonary diseases: Bronchial asthma. Respiratory insufficiency. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Acute infections of upper and lower airways, pneumonia. Interstitial lung diseases. Lung cancer. Tuberculosis. Sleep apnoea syndrome. Hemoptysis.
Nephrology: Urinary tract infection. Glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome. Acute kidney injury. Chronic renal failure. Urolithiasis and urinary tract obstruction. Renal carcinoma.
