Sylabus:

The goal of course is to introduce the students to basic surgical techniques with an emphasis on minimally invasive approaches. Indication criteria, operative procedure and management of the complications of laparoscopic and robotic procedures in abdominal and thoracis surgery will be discussed. Procedures that will be discussed include laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair and colorectal resections and robotic rectal and lung resections.

The course will be divided into three parts:

1) Demonstration of various different instruments used in minimally invasive surgery, practise on the laparoscopic surgery simulator (Endourology Training Center)

2) Video presentation of various different laparoscopic procedures, practise of advanced laparoscopic techniques on the laparoscopic surgery stimulator (Endourology Training Center)

3) Assistance on the operating theatre
