The curriculum of the summer professional training in Paediatrics

(Duration 2 weeks, during summer holidays after the 4th year - in the Paediatric Department of a Faculty Hospital, in a regional or district hospital, with specialised outpatient department and neonatal Department according to your choice)

1 week working in inpatient Paediatric Department and in a specialised consulting room of Paediatric Medical Centre

1 week working in Neonatal Department

Inpatient paediatric department

taking the history (family, personal, epidemiological, allergological), analysing basic anamnestic data)

physical examination of the child in admitting to hospital, during the stay and before discharging

laboratory and complementary examination - assisiting in the suggestion of the diagnostic record and analysing the outcomes

collections of biological material, assisting in infusions and transfusions, diagnostical and therapeutical

assisting in application of medications (peroral, topical, parenteral)

hospital milieu, psychological care for a hospitalised child, communication with parents

documentation - admission, medical history, decourse, discharge, follow-up care

Specialised consulting rooms for children with chronic illnesses

taking the history (see above)

physical examination of the child

assisting in taking of the biological material, diagnostic and therapeutical acts

laboratory and complementary examination - assisting in the proposal of the diagnostic record and analysing the outcomes

psychological care for children with chronic illness, cooperation with the family and the general practitioner of children and young people

documentation and dispensing, prevention

Neonatal Department - physiological newborn babies

taking the history, analysing the basic anamnesic data, analysing the data of both clinical and laboratory examinations in the medical history of the mother

physical examination and treatment of the newborn baby in the delivery room supervised by a neonatalogist and a nurse, the Apgar score, the outcome for formulation diagnosis, treating and therapeutical procedure

follow-up care in the Department of physiological newborn babies, physical examination and treatment of the newborn baby, the overall evaluation of the newborn baby - typology, postural reflexes, spontaneous signals and other signals seen at first sight. A detailed examination of the head, neck and thorax, abdomen, extremities and neuromotoric status of the baby

breastfeeding and its importance, formulated milks - when and which type

daily regime of the newborn baby, calmetization, treatment of the umbilicals, laboratory examination, screening, cutaneous treatment

assisting in the collection of the biological material, infusions and transfusions, diagnostic and therapeutical acts

assisting in the application of medications (peroral, topical, parenteral)

conditions for the discharge, following care, communication with parents

documentation in the neonatal Department

A certificate on completion of the summer practice with the stamp of the particular department and a signature of the doctor responsible for the ward will be recorded in the student's index.
