First aid course will provide students with the knowledge and the skills to manage emergency first aid situations, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), controlling bleeding and managing other life and health threatening situations. Basic life support (BLS) training provides the skills to recognize and then manage a casualty who is unconscious and is not breathing. BLS training is taught according to European Resuscitation Council (ERC) BLS-AED Provider courses and students who will pass excellent during final practical examination will obtain a Certificate of the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University for BLS Provider.

Credit is obligatory for participation in an examination. Requirements for a credit are active knowledge during practical trainings, attendance in all practical trainings and successful passing of practical examination (complete 2 min. basic life support of an adult in 1 rescuer) .

Examination: oral response to 2 random questions, no time for preparation is provided (there is also no time left for meditation in emergencies)

Lessons

Lesson 1 History and organisation of the first aid. Basic life support. Disaster medicine.

Lesson 2Disturbances of breathing and circulation. Chest pain. Shock. Bleeding, infusion therapy, transfusion

Lesson 3 Cranial injury, unconsciousness, fits cramps. Eye, ENT injuries. Acute psychic disorders, aggressiveness. Intoxications.

Lesson 5 Emergencies caused by environmental factors

Practical trainings
