The subject "First aid" provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage most life-threatening condition incl. cardiac arrest, loss of consciousness, major bleeding, overdose etc. Particular emphasis is put on the technique of CPR. Students will also train non-technical skills, incl. stress management, teamwork (incl. engaging bystanders), communication and other aspects of CRM (crisis resource management). The subject consist of self-learning (finished with passing MCQ test), 2 lectures and 3 workshops (on CPR), but the most important part is the FASEC (First-Aid Experience Spring Camp) when students learn practical aspects on realistic mock scenarios.

Learn theoretical background and practical skills for the students to be able to perform first aid in pre-hospital setting.

Obtain basic non-technical skills for managing a crisis (CRM - crisis resource managemant).

Prerequesits to the attendance in Dobronice First Aid Experience Spring Camp: passed MCQ test testing theory according to online textbook Malek et al. 

Credit is given for attending  first-aid course in Dobronice. If, for a serious reason (e.g. healthy or social), a student cannot attend the course, credit is given for writting an assay on a given topic.

Lectures

Lesson 1: Basic life support - theory of CPR. 

Lesson 2: Seizures, bleeding, suffocation and other life-threatening conditions - theory.

 

Practical trainings

1.   Basic Life Support - adults 

2.   CPR with the use of AED and/or ambu bag

3.   CPR of newborns and children, basic skills for first aid at the site of an accident

 

First Aid Experience Spring Camp

Four half-days, the key to teaching by experientce is 9 mock scenarios

The prerequisite for attending the First Aid Experience Spring Camp in Dobronice is the theoretical knowledge based on internet textbook Malek J et al. verified by successfully passing an MCQ test
