Time frame: 6:45am – 2:15pm, 4 times during the academic year (30 hrs in total). One day will be different – morning ward round in standard ward followed by urology clinic. The course is designed for 4th grade students with interest in surgical specialities who wish to get an idea of the field of urology and what a typical day in the department looks like.

To familiarise yourself with principles of care after major urological surgeries (e.g. radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy, partial nephrectomy) and the management of urological emergencies (urosepsis, renal colic, acute scrotum etc.).

The student is supposed to start the day with the attending doctor in the intensive care unit morning round at 7:00 and shadow him/her to the morning hand-over meeting, assisting in the operation theatre and assessing and managing post-surgical inpatients.
