Block training in form of a clinical practice for the duration of 4 weeks before the final state examination from Gynaecology and Obstetrics. The aim is to get acquainted with the clinical routine work in the field of gynecology and obstetrics before the state examination in this field. The practice consists of seminars, theoretical and practical preparation. Seminars are held in the first week according to the number of students in the lecture room of the ÚPMD in Podolí, Podolské nábřeží 157, 147 00 Praha 4. First day begins at 8 AM, please be punctual. 2nd - 4th week of practice can be completed at accredited ObGyn department in any hospital in Czech Republic. All students must inform the study department no later than 1 month before the start of the practice or sign up for an internship application at either FNKV or ÚPMD. Slots to register for the practice in SIS will open 30 days before the beginning of practice.Higher number can only be arranged with the head of the department - prof. Rob. On the first day of practice go to the lecture room in the ObGyn department of the 3rd Faculty of Medicine and FNKV, Srobarova 50, Praha 10, or ÚPMD in Podolí, Podolské nábřeží 157, 147 00 Prague 4 at 7:55 AM. In case of clinical practice outside FNKV and ÚPMD, the time schedule will be based on the agreement with the head of department. During the practice students should be involved in routine work in the department under the guidance of individual physicians. We would like you to apply your knowledge from previous years of studies in practice to complete preparation for the state examination from gynecology and obstetrics. In the 6th year, it is not possible to undergo seminars and clinical practice during Erasmus stay or on the basis of the contract and prior consent of the guarantor of the field of study, prof. Rob outside the Czech Republic. Part of the practice is to conduct morning visits under the guidance of doctors, referring patients at clinical rounds, assisting in surgical and delivery rooms, observing patients in outpatient clinic (gynaecological, obstetric, ultrasonography), etc. Seminars are obligatory, attendance is recorded in students' papers. Excuses at secretariate - must be approved by head of department. Acceptance of appologies max to 20%. Students receive credit for attendance at practice and seminar work. Registration for the state exam is only possible through SIS (you cannot register through secretary). During the clinical practice please wear medical lab coat, trousers (skirt) and shoes and place your student card in a visible place.

The teaching takes place in the form of clinical practical training. Students are divided into groups that circulate through different OBGYN departments. 

1st week - theoretical education if form of seminars (see schedule - teaching takes place in FNKV or ÚPMD according to the capacity of lecture hall)

This is followed by 3 weeks of practice in FNKV, UPMD or another accredited Gynecology and Obstetrics department in Czech Republic. Practice or seminars cannot be replaced by an Erasmus study program or a foreign stay.

2nd - 4th week according to the schedule of students (gynecology ward, obstetrics ward, surgery theatre, delivery room and outpatient clinic)

Recommended minimum (observation or assistance) - or what you should see during the 6th year of practice:

Gynaecological examination (oncological cytology, HPV HR testation, colposcopy)

Gynaecological ultrasonography

Abdominal gynaecological surgery (e.g. hysterectomy)

Laparoscopy

Vaginal gynaecological surgery

Dilation and curretage, hysterocopy, revision of uterine cavity

Examination of pregnant women, management in pregnancy, cardiotocography

Ultrasonography in pregnancy

Spontaneous delivery

Caesarian section

To obtain the credit student has to attend seminars and clinical practice (every absence must be excused individually, a maximum of 20%( and the first day of the seminars to submit final version of seminar paper from 5th year. The topic of seminar paper from 5th year is an observed clinical case (with attached copy of outpatient examination or copy of surgical protocol, copy of delivery report), max. 3 pages of topic review (font size 10-12).

Credit is a requirement for the state exam.
