Introduction to physiology, cell physiology, resting and action potentials

Physiology of muscle.

Body fluids. Blood and blood plasma.

Erythrocytes. Blood groups. Platelets, blood clotting.

Leucocytes, immune system.

Digestion, oral cavity, esophagus, stomach.

Duodenum, pancreas, liver. Small and large intestine, absorption of water and nutrients.

Metabolism. Thermoregulation.

Respiration.

Kidney. Nephron, tubular processes.

Acid-base balance.

Lectures of summer semester

Heart as a pump. Electrical activity of the heart.

Hemodynamics, blood pressure, regulation of blood pressure.

Microcirculation. Blood flow in specific organs.

Introduction to endocrinology. Mechanisms of hormonal action.

Pituitary gland, hormones of thyroid and parathyroid glands

Hormones of adrenal cortex and medulla. Insulin and glucagons.

Sex hormones.

Neuron, mediators of neural transmission.

Spinal cord, reflex arch. Brain stem and middle brain.

Cerebellum and basal ganglia. Control of movement.

Brain cortex, associative cortex. Limbic system, learning and memory.

Hypothalamus, autonomic nervous system.

Physiology of senses: somatosensation and pain

Vision, hearing, olfaction and taste.
