Compulsory/elective subject for the 3rd year students of the nursing programme. The content is aimed at the care of patients with a stomy (mainly abdominal). Excursion to a special unit is a part of the subject.
Aim of the course -

The student will:

know the indications for a stoma

be able to care for a patient with a stoma

know complications and how to deal with them

be able to work with stoma appliances

be able to educate patients

understand the importance of stoma nurses

be able to inform the patients about social help and self help groups
