Improvement and enhancement of practical skills in taking anamnesis, physical examination of the patient and other skills obtained during internal medicine training.

The aim of practical experience is to show activities of internal medicine inpatient department and with the duties of house physician at this department, to intensify and practice clinical skills, examination techniques and treatment. All activities of students are under the supervision of a house physician.

Practice at internal medicine department

Requirements to the exam -

For receiving credit student has to submit:

1) Report on the evaluation of the practical experience - internal medicine

2) Syllabus - internal medicine

All these forms must be signed and stamped by the responsible person (ie. chief of the department)

Syllabus -

1. Clinical interview, Physical examination techniques, Clinical documentation, Final

report, Ward round, Epicrisis

2. Technical skills: Blood sampling and sampling of other biological materials,

application of all types of injections, incl. infusion

3. ECG examination, including ECG description

4. Blood transfusion : Indication, technique, documentation

5. Gastric probing (catheter), Gastric lavage

Assitance by chest puncture, puncture of ascites etc.

6. Assistance by catheter examination, central vein cannulation and other special techniques (gastroscopy, rectoscopy, sonography, echocardiolgraphy, biopsy....)

7. Taking part in special seminars (roentgnology, etc.)

8. The stage (for several days) at intensive care unit.

9. Minimaly 2 medical emergency duties.
