Basic principals of communication together with chosen chapters from general, genetic as well as social psychology that have relation to the Dental hygienist Specialization are included in the educational course, with emphasis on the pain in dental surgery. The syllabus of the course Psychology and Communication is based on the bio-psycho-social model of health and illness. The graduate will acquire important knowledge and practical communication skills in the field of psychology, which are the basis of a professional and at the same time human approach to the performance of one's profession. At the same time, the graduate will learn to take care of his own mental health so that he can use preventive strategies in practice both for coping with stress and against burnout syndrome. The graduate learns to distinguish different attitudes of clients or patients towards illness and care for their own health and can derive appropriate communication strategies based on knowledge of the factors that influence the patient's management of the disease. They will learn to communicate in specific situations (patients with pain, depression, anxiety, cognitive disorders and with various distinct personality traits). Graduates will learn to overcome non-cooperation and motivate clients or patients to change inappropriate habits. The basic principle of practical teaching is interactivity and the inclusion of video demonstrations of communication procedures. The detailed content of individual learning units, including presentations, articles and links, is listed for each learning unit in the Teaching module. The subject "Psychology and communication" is completed by credit at the end of the winter semester. In LS by credit and exam. The subject "Psychology and communication" is part of the State final exam. Circuits for the State final exam are published in the Teaching module.

Credit and exam requirements:

The subject "Psychology and communication" is completed by credit at the end of the winter semester, and by credit and an exam in LS.

Winter term

Credit in WS 2023:

Credit in the winter semester can be obtained in the following way:

· The student chooses any article on the topic of burnout syndrome (SV)

· The student will process the selected article in his own words in the form of a reflection in the scope of approx. 1 page of A4 format (in a Word document). The student will state, for example, what interested him in the article, what he considers to be the contribution of the article to his own professional life, etc.

Therefore, two documents will be submitted for credit: 1) an article on SV and 2) a written reflection on the topic (not a theoretical description of the burnout syndrome). Both will be sent electronically no later than January 20, 2024 to: miloslava.raisova@lf3.cuni.cz.

Credit is awarded by PhDr. Miloslava Raisová, Ph.D.

Summer semester

Credit in the summer semester 2024:

Credit in the summer semester is earned for attendance. To obtain credit, the student must complete at least 80% of the practical exercises (i.e. 9 out of 11). To be awarded credit, the student's registration card (EK) with teachers' signatures must be presented.

Credit in LS is granted by PhDr. Miloslava Raisová, Ph.D.

Exam in the summer semester 2024:

The exam will take the form of a test. The test contains 40 questions, of which 36 are closed and 4 are open. Closed questions can have one or more correct answers - the number of correct answers will be indicated for each question. The test is time-limited - it lasts a maximum of 1 hour. All test questions will be based on 10 lectures/presentations in the field of psychology in the winter semester.

Before taking the psychology test in LS, it is necessary to have completed both credits (i.e. for ZS and LS). However, registering for the test date is not conditional on obtaining a credit.

The announcement of the test results will be published in SIS within 5 working days. A student whose results in the test will be assessed as unsatisfactory must immediately register via SIS for a new test date.

Within 3 days from the announcement of the results, it is possible to inspect the test as part of the consultation - a written record will be made of the inspection. The content and results of the test can be consulted with the teacher PhDr. Miloslava Raisová, Ph.D. (agreement required in advance via e-mail).

Questions about credits, tests or teaching can be consulted by email: miloslava.raisova@lf3.cuni.cz (or by phone: 739 670 063)
