An edducation of clinical genetics in the 5th year consist of three seminars and the visit of the Department of Clinical Genetics. Seminars are focused on primary and secondary prevention of genetic diseases, prenatal diagnosis, the most frequent monogenic and polygennic disorders, teratogenic effect on the embryonal development etc. Visit on the Department of Clinical Genetics demonstrate the work in genetic counselling center, conjunction of genetics with other medical specialities, work in cytogenetic and molecular genetic laboratories. Problems of clinical genetics are the part of state examination of pediatrics.

The lessons from clinical genetics - course "Genetically determined diseases" in the 5th year of study run as a part of the Pediatry module. They are consequential with the genetic lessons in the 1st year within the module IB and in the 3rd year in module IIA "Theoretical basics of clinical medicine".

The aim is consequently bring new informations about diagnostic possibilities of hereditary diseases, provide students with the necessary knowledge in the field of clinical genetics and due to give them the ability to indicate a genetic consultation and methods no matter their specialities.
