This English course is taught in the second year of the BA Physiotherapy programme. The course is a continuation of the Professional English I course (C1FY016). The course is taught in the form of seminars focusing on professional language, incl. general and specialized medical terminology and taking a medical history from an English-speaking patient. Seminars will also be oriented towards student presentations (medical topics + constructive criticism). The course is also aimed at improving student competencies in foreign language spoken production.

Jednosemestrální kurz anglického jazyka v druhém ročníku bakalářského studijního programu Fyzioterapie. Kurz obsahově navazuje na kurz Odborná angličtina I (C1FY016).
Předmět je zaměřen na praktické použití odborného jazyka. Výuka probíhá formou seminářů zaměřených na obecnou a specializovanou lékařskou terminologii a odebírání anamnézy od anglicky hovořícího pacienta. Semináře budou dále orientovány na studentské prezentace na odborná lékařská témata v anglickém jazyce s následným vyhodnocením.
Předmět je dále zaměřen na zdokonalení studentských kompetencí v oblasti cizojazyčné mluvené produkce.
Aim of the course -

The primary goal of the course is to teach students to take a complete medical history of an English-speaking patient and to expand their knowledge of professional and lay medical terminology.
On the basis of specialized medical histories (relevant to the field of physiotherapy), the course will also contribute to the improvement of students' general linguistic competence, especially in the areas of grammar and syntax.
Skills and expected outcomes:
1) being able to take a medical history from an English-speaking patient; 2) improvement of basic foreign language competences; 3) enhanced communication skills; 4) enhanced rhetorical skills.

Primárním cílem předmětu je naučit studenty odebrat kompletní anamnézu u anglicky hovořícího pacienta a rozšířit jejich znalosti odborné i laické lékařské terminologie.
Na základě specializovaných anamnéz (relevantních pro obor fyzioterapie) pak předmět přispěje i ke zdokonalení obecně jazykových kompetencí studentů, a to zejména v oblasti gramatiky a syntaxe.

Seminars - 15 face-to-face meetings, 90 minutes per week (in combination with an e-learning course on the Moodle UK 1 platform).

Semináře - 15 týdnů výuky, 90 minut týdně (v kombinaci s e-learningovým kurzem na platformě Moodle UK 1).

Requirements to the exam -

Students will receive their credit if they meet the following conditions:
1) satisfactory attendance (at least 70%),
2) giving a presentation on one of the topics provided by the instructor (8-12 min.),
3) passing the credit test (pass = 70%).
The credit test includes written comprehension tasks, vocabulary, grammar and other material covered in the seminars.
The credit test can be retaken three times.
Once the students have received their credits, they can take a comprehensive oral exam which tests the knowledge and skills acquired both English courses (Odborná angličtina I. + Odborná angličtina II.).
The exam can be retaken twice.

Zápočet:
Student získá zápočet, pokud splní následující podmínky:
1) docházka (alespoň 70 %),
2) přednesení prezentace na zadané téma (8-12 min.),
3) úspěšné složení zápočtového testu (hranice úspěchu 70 %).
Zápočtový test obsahuje porozumění psanému textu, slovní zásobu, gramatiku a další materiály probrané v seminářích.
Zápočtový test je v případě neúspěchu možno třikrát opravit.
Zkouška:
Po zisku zápočtu student skládá ústní zkoušku z angličtiny, kde jsou testovány znalosti a dovednosti získané v kurzech Odborná angličtina I. a Odborná angličtina II.
Zkoušku je v případě neúspěchu možno dvakrát opravit.
