This course is designed to help students learn and utilise two of the main skills which every doctor needs: diagnostics and discussion. In small groups students will be given a case study and, using literature and the internet, they will diagnose the patient and suggest treatment. Then they will present their ideas to the other groups and doctor and defend their reasoning. Students should be aware that this is a test of logic and communication so concrete ideas are required backed up by rationale. The course leaders are a doctor and a linguistic so students will receive feedback of their medical thinking and their presentation skills.
Patients´ data (past medical history etc.) will be given in Czech which is a good opportunity to practice medical Czech. Nevertheless, English is the language of class communication and discussion.
