Aim of the course

Sports Medicine (SM) is a clinical branch of medicine. It deals with physical and sports activity of a man in diagnostics, therapy and prevention.

A) PATIENTS and WEAKENED PERSONS in sports activity, where physical performance is limited by a disease.

Mainly secondary prevention in cardiovascular, bronchopulmonal, metabolic, neurovegetative disturbances and o disturbances of musculoskeletal apparatus - together with other branches of medicine.Exercise functional diagnostics means clinical assessment of functional period of many diseases, which may substantially differ from the stadium pathological and anathomical or from some clinical classifications. More reliable evaluation of the efficiency of treatment (exercise as accessory therapy, drug, regime, or operation therapy). Prescription of suitable exercise activity in everyday living. Diagnostics of somatic development and its disturbances.

B) HEALTHY PERSONS: Abilities for exercise activity (recreational and competitive), primary prevention of civilization diseases, examination of somatic development. Improvement of physical fitness and the quality of life. Antidoping struggle. Optimalization of training process (load intensity, regeneration). Improvement of sports performance.

Spors Medicine (SM) and Functional Diagnostics; first lesson according the school year usually on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 10.30 a.m. (Day and hour may be adjusted to the students need !) SM is one-semestrial subject! - totally 12x2 hours of teaching lessons. (Students may choose either winter OR summer semester.) 3 credits.
