Teoreticko-metodologický seminář se věnuje metodologickým základům oboru. Podrobně jsou se studenty
rozebírány metody kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu obecně v rámci společenských věd i konkrétně v rámci
oboru informační věda. Na závěr semináře studenti vypracují seminární práci v rozsahu cca 10 stran, která se
zaměřuje na aplikaci poznatků z metodologického semináře na vlastní disertační projekt. Cílem je popsat a
rozebrat metodologii disertační práce s odůvodněním a popisem postupu výzkumu, předvýzkumu apod. Seminář
se koná pravidelně 1x měsíčně. Student si po konzultaci se školitelem zvolí, zda absolvuje teoreticko-
metodologický seminář, nebo zkoušku z filozofie (zkouška z filozofie je doporučována zejména studentům, kteří
jsou již po stránce metodologie společenských věd dostatečně teoreticky vybaveni).
