The course will expose students to important trends in 20th-century Danish literature and their concrete reflection on the work of key authors of the period. Graduates of the course should be able to think independently about the literature of the period and view literature in a historical context.
The introductory hours of the course will be devoted to the works of Johannes V. Jensen and the beginnings of modernism in Danish literature. Subsequently, other movements that emerged in Denmark in the defined period will be discussed chronologically. In the first half of the 20th century, specifically Expressionism (Tom Kristensen, Rudolf Broby-Johansen) and Futurism (Emil Bønnelycke); students will also learn about the reflection of Marxism and Freud's deep psychoanalysis in Danish literature (Hans Kirk); in this context, the highly productive contemporary genre of the so-called collective novel will also be discussed. In the post-war period, we will focus on the emergence of modernism in prose. We will also look at this movement as an ideological construction and present several conceptions of the development of modernism. We will become acquainted, among others, with the work of Hans-Jørgen Nielsen, Klaus Rifbjerg, Per Højholt and Inger Christensen. Finally, the reflection of the theories of poststructuralism and postmodernism in literature (e.g. S.Å. Madsen, Peter Høeg) will be presented. In the last sessions we will introduce Danish literature at the turn of the millennium (Helle Helle, Naja Marie Aidt, Maja Lee Langvad, and others).

Kurz zprostředkuje studentům důležité směry dánské literatury 20. století a jejich konkrétní odraz v tvorbě klíčových autorů daného období. Absolventi kurzu by měli být schopni samostatně uvažovat o literatuře daného období a nahlížet literaturu v dějinném kontextu.
Úvodní hodiny předmětu budou věnovány tvorbě Johannese V. Jensena a počátkům modernismu v dánské literatuře. Posléze budou chronologicky probrány další směry, které se v Dánsku ve vymezeném období objevily. V první polovině 20. století konkrétně expresionismus (Tom Kristensen, Rudolf Broby-Johansen) a futurismus (Emil Bønnelycke), dále se studenti seznámí s odrazem marxismu a Freudovy hlubinné psychoanalýzy v dánské literatuře (Hans Kirk); vtéto souvislosti bude rozebírán i velmi produktivní dobový žánr tzv. kolektivního románu. V poválečném období se zaměříme na nástup modernismu v próze. Na tento směr budeme pohlížet rovněž jako na ideologickou konstrukci a představíme několik pojetí vývoje modernismu. Seznámíme se mimo jiné s tvorbou Hanse-Jørgena Nielsen, Klause Rifbjerga, PeraHøjholta a Inger Christensenové. V závěru bude představen odraz teorií poststrukturalismu a postmoderny vliteratuře (např. S.Å. Madsen, Peter Høeg). V posledních sezeních si představíme dánskou literaturu na přelomu tisíciletí (Helle Helle, Naja Marie Aidtová, Maja Lee Langvadová, a další).

V rámci kurzu studenti přednesou referát na zvolené téma. Kurz je zakončen zápočtem. Účast na jednotlivých hodinách kurzu je podmíněna přípravou (tzn. přečtením a nastudováním zadané primární a sekundární literatury). Absence nesmí přesáhnout 30%.

Forma závěrečné atestace: student si vytáhne dvě otázky, jednu z nich si vybere a v češtině zodpoví. Otázky se budou týkat jen probraných děl a literárních směrů a dobového kontextu.

In the course, students will present a paper on a chosen topic. The course ends with a credit. Participation in individual classes of the course is subject to preparation (i.e. reading and study of the assigned primary and secondary literature). Absence must not exceed 30%.

The examination form: the examination will be oral: the student will answer a question relating to the topics and books treated in the course.
