Course Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to familiarize students with the fundamental principles of creativity and creative thinking. Through in-depth discussions and analysis of assigned research papers, the course aims to cultivate a critical understanding of creativity in the educational context. By the end of the course, students should develop the ability to adopt a discerning perspective on the integration of creativity into teaching practices. They will be equipped to articulate compelling arguments for incorporating creativity in the classroom and possess the skills to empirically assess the effectiveness of such strategies.

Target Knowledge:

Upon completion of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the basic concepts of creativity and its constituent elements. They will be able to articulate these concepts to a topic-interested audience. Furthermore, students will demonstrate the ability to engage in informed discussions about current research findings on creativity, supported by empirical evidence. They will contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse on creativity and its applications, applying various criteria to evaluate the scientific merit of evidence in this field.

Target Skills:

The course aims to empower students with practical skills in applying creativity to their study practices. Students will integrate creativity into their academic pursuits, supported by a robust understanding of scientific evidence. Additionally, they will develop a habit of regularly scrutinizing theories and approaches related to creativity in alignment with the latest scientific evidence, thereby enhancing their critical thinking abilities and ensuring a well-informed approach to educational practices.
