The semester focuses on the scientific description of personality – general knowledge of various approaches to personality description (constitutional, type, feature, factor, situationist, and interactionist approaches); description of personality-related phenomena (labelling, (in) consistency and modification of behaviour, attribution, and so on); individual personality components such as temperament, character, abilities, motivation, and self. Within the confines of psychological optimality and normality, personality disorders will be discussed.
Aim of the course
Last update: doc. Mgr. et Mgr. Tomáš Nikolai, Ph.D. (09.10.2023)

In the semester, students will learn to describe other people and themselves in more detail psychologically - starting with a basic psychological anamnesis and progressing through a psychometric profile within predetermined dimensions, to a qualitative or narrative psychological portrait. Students will learn how the chosen approach to personality description and feedback can affect the personality, as well as how changing the angle of the description or retelling one's own story can have a positive effect. Various aspects that contribute to the uniqueness of one's own personality, such as temperament and character traits, abilities, and motivation, will be discussed in depth. Students will gain a better understanding of the factors that influence the structure and dynamics of personality, ranging from innate to social and situational.

Key competencies: Conducting a personality-focused psychological interview Taking a personality psychological anamnesis Making psychometric personality characteristics Creating a psychological idiographic portrait Providing (and receiving) feedback Use of basic personality psychology terms and concepts in self-reflection, education, and intervention.
