The first part of the four-semester lecture gives a comprehensive overview of the main stages of the history of European music in terms of the development of musical thinking and musical styles, compositional techniques and musical species and forms. Winter semester is devoted to the music of the European Middle Ages and the Renaissance (until 1600).
