The course introduces the phenomenon of collective violence in a multidisciplinary perspective with emphasis on works from contemporary Czech and international historical scholarship. The class will present stimulating approaches from different disciplines (psychology, political science, sociology or gender studies) that allow to better understand the phenomenon of collective violence in historical research. In addition to the presentation of selected conceptual frameworks, the seminar will also include readings of specific historical studies that will give a closer look at the use of the theoretical insights in working with a particular historical topic. Selected classes will be visited by colleagues who focus on collective violence in their work. Two classes will also be devoted to working directly with sources related to the topic of collective violence (the Armenian and Roma genocides).<br>

The aim of the specialisation seminar is to introduce students to selected thematic fields, to develop their skills in working with scientific literature and to lead discussions on selected historical sources, enabling students to transfer their interdisciplinary theoretical knowledge into practice in the interpretation of historical texts. The course is suitable for both Bachelor's and Master's level students.<br>

During the course, as part of their home study, students will become familiar with English and Czech written scholarly texts as well as selected historical sources. The content of each class is, in addition to an introductory explanation by the lecturers, a peer debate on historiographical texts and sources.<br>

Kurz přibližuje fenomén kolektivního násilí v multidisciplinární perspektivě s důrazem kladeným na práce ze současné historické vědy. Na hodinách budou představeny inspirativní přístupy z různých oborů (psychologie, politologie, sociologie nebo gender studies), které umožňují lépe uchopit fenomén kolektivního násilí v historickém výzkumu. Vedle uvedení vybraných konceptuálních rámců se v kurzu budeme věnovat četbě jednotlivých historických studií, které přiblíží využití daných teoretických inspirací při práci s konkrétním historickým tématem. Vybrané hodiny navštíví kolegové věnující se ve svých pracích kolektivnímu násilí. Dvě až tři hodiny budou také věnovány přímo práci s prameny vztahujícími se k tématu kolektivního násilí (genocidám Arménů a Romů). Vyučovací hodiny jsou řazeny tematicky.
Cílem výuky je seznámit studenty s vybranými tematickými okruhy, rozvinout jejich schopnosti při práci s odbornou literaturou a vést diskusi nad vybranými historickými prameny umožňujícími studentům přenášet mezioborové teoretické znalosti do praxe při interpretaci historického textu. Kurz je vhodný pro studenty bakalářského i magisterského stupně.
Studenti se během kurzu seznámí v rámci domácí přípravy s anglicky a česky psanými odbornými texty a také s vybranými historickými prameny. Obsahem jednotlivých hodin je, vedle úvodního výkladu ze strany vyučujících, vzájemná debata nad historiografickými texty a prameny.

Podmínkou zápočtu je pravidelná docházka, prezentace vybraného textu a aktivní účast v diskuzích. Povoleny jsou tři absence. Pro absolvování zkoušky je dodatečnou podmínkou rozprava nad jedním předem individuálně konzultovaným tematickým okruhem a seznamem literatury (min. 3 knihy nebo články, v závislosti na povaze textů i více).

Vzhledem k tématu našeho kurzu jsme se za současných okolností rozhodli změnit podmínky zkoušek. Zkouška tak proběhne formou konzultací a reflexí nad průběhem kurzu. Jedná se tedy spíše o způsob, jak kurz důstojně uzavřít, rozloučit se studenty a případně poskytnout možnost konzultace odborných problémů nebo otázek, které by je zajímaly. Nebude tedy třeba ze strany studentů se vracet k textům o kolektivním násilí ani žádné další přípravy. Zkouška je dobrovolná a studenti se jí v tomto semestru vůbec zúčastnit, pokud z různých důvodů nechcete.
