Seminář se zaměřuje na četbu a analýzu středoanglických textu různých žánrů a typů, prózy i poezie. Každý text se prezentuje v uceleném úseku, je opatřen glosářem, filologickým aparátem a základními informacemi o jeho historickém či literárně-historickém významu. Cílem semináře je a) poskytnout širší empirickou bázi k předmětu Dějiny anglického jazyka; b) umožnit hlubší filologické i lingvistické poznání různých historických podob angličtiny zájemcům o historickou lingvistiku a středověkou literaturu.

The seminar focuses on reading and analysis of selected Old English texts. Each text is presented as a self-contained whole with a glossary, philological commentary and basic information on its literary background. The aim of the seminar is a) to provide students of the history of the language with a wider empirical basis; b) to encourage the students who aim to pursue their study of historical linguistics and/or English medieval literature to develop a firmer philological and linguistic grasp of medieval English.

CREDIT REQUIREMENTS:

Textual Preparation: Regular study of the provided texts is appreciated.

Homework: Please prepare to discuss all assigned tasks in class.

Class Participation: Your active involvement in discussions enriches our class.

Attendance: Please maintain a minimum of 80%. (At 70%, the option of make-up work)

All requirements for credit must be completed by the end of the examination period of the academic year in which the student enrolled in the course.

POŽADAVKY NA ZÁPOČET:

Příprava a prostudování poskytnutých textů.

Příprava na diskusi o  zadaných úkolech v hodině.

Aktivní účast v diskusích.

80% docházka. (Při 70% možnost náhradní práce)

Všechny požadavky pro zápočet je nutné splnit do konce zkouškového období akademického roku, ve kterém si student předmět zapsal.
