This doctoral seminar provides students with the opportunity to present, discuss and consult their thesis projects, as well as to participate in the research activities of Philosophical Module.

The subject deepens the knowledge of selected concepts and approaches in the philosophy of social sciences through controlled reading. Based on reading the prescribed texts and subsequent discussions, students will acquire basic methods, concepts, and distinctions with which the social sciences work. The goal is to support the ability of doctoral students to work with professional texts while providing them with relevant tools for formulating the methodological starting points of their dissertation projects. Topics: Nomothetic and idiographic explanations. Nomologism and historicism. Normative and descriptive approach. Paradigms in the social sciences. Positivism. Interpretivism. Social constructivism. Social engineering. Multi-, inter-, trans-disciplinarity of social sciences. A list of mandatory and recommended literature is established for individual topics; the selection of other texts will be determined on based on students' current dissertation projects.
