English

Introduction to history, usage, construction and production of prosthetics and orthotics. This course will focus on orthopeadical disabilities of both children and adults commonly seen by physical therapists. Advanced analysis of standing and walking and kinesiological analysis of patients using prosthetic and orthotic aids will be emphasized. Course content will include also physical therapy evaluation and treatment. Laboratory activities focus on the application and measurement of these aids, school of walking and school of grip during normal activities and during exercises. Laboratory to accompany this subject must be taken concurrently.

Cílem výuky předmětu je seznámit s protetickými pomůckami, které jsou nezbytnou součástí rehabilitační péče a umožňují náhrady funkcí, jež jsou nezbytné pro plnohodnotný život. Studenti získávají znalosti o pomůckách používaných v praxi, jejich výrobě, testování a užití. Součástí praktické výuky je demonstrace pomůcek s důrazem na jejich přednosti a nedostatky.

Aim of the course

Learning Outcomes:

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and general competencies so that after the completion of the course the students:

• understands the position and integration of orthotics - prosthetics as a field in the system of medical rehabilitation

• demonstrates the ability to orientate in the issue of prosthetic aids, which are an essential part of rehabilitation care and allow the replacement of functions that are necessary for a full life

• demonstrate knowledge of prosthetic devices used in practice, their production, testing and use
