The course presents media education as an important interdisciplinary discipline, without which it would be difficult to understand the functioning of the media in society and their effects. The course is focused on familiarizing students with the functioning and use and influence of the media on contemporary society with regard to educational processes based on current technical, philosophical and psychosocial aspects as well as cultural aspects, including critical reflection and analysis of media products. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic theories of media communication, media competencies, the concept of media literacy, the current situation and the use of media in the teaching process, to characterize individual media competencies and to lead to critical reflection of media content. 1. Basic concept and justification of the need for media education in the present. 4. Basic media theory. 5. Media research in the past and present. 6. Media literacy and civil society. 7. The student is able to characterize the types of media communication and the ways of media influence. They are able to orient themselves in the mechanisms of action of mass media and analyze individual media products. The course has 5 credits according to ECTS, the total workload of the student corresponds to 150 hours. The expected preparation time for 1 hour is 25 minutes, self-study of literature (for the whole semester) 10 hours, work with study materials (for the whole semester) 15 hours, completion of ongoing tasks (for the whole semester) 25 hours.
