Annotation -
The course is focused on the development of singing and instrumental skills, the development of creative skills based on instrumental improvisation, especially in singing and playing folk, popular or artificial songs and practical acquaintance with the repertoire based on the study of works of various styles. Emphasis is placed on practical acquaintance with individual musical forms and specifics of interpretation, typical for given music-historical periods. Improvisation focuses on the stylization of the accompaniment of folk songs in accordance with their origin and character. The course is designed as a four-semester (Voice and Instrumental Preparation I-IV). The objects follow each other. Teaching, which reflects the technical and interpretive maturity of individual students, takes place according to an individual study plan compiled for the entire academic year. The aim of the course is professional vocal, singing and instrumental readiness and equipment of the student for later music education practice.

Ongoing preparation of repertoire for the LS:

a song or aria from the Baroque or Classical period
an art song from the Romantic period
a song on children's texts or a song suitable for children's listeners
a piece composed after 1950
a composition of your own choice (your own instrumental accompaniment is possible - piano, guitar)


Instrumental Training

Mastery of part of the repertoire intended for Year 2.

Piano:

The required repertoire is:

polyphonic composition.

1 piece by a Czech composer

2 small compositions by 19th century composers

20 songs with stylized accompaniment, overture, transpositions

Czech national anthem

Violin:

1 piece from the Classical period

2 pieces from the Romantic period

2 small compositions by 20th century composers

Czech national anthem

Improvisation (piano and violin) to the accompaniment of folk songs (types of stylisations and other improvisation models with regard to the character of the songs).

During the semester the student will perform 20 songs with accompaniment, overture, including transposition to other keys.

Syllabus -

The course consists of two sub-disciplines: voice and instrumental preparation.

Teaching is based on an individual study plan that reflects the student's musical, vocal and instrumental maturity and disposition. Weekly teaching schedule: 1 hour of voice preparation + 1 hour of instrumental preparation. Lessons are taught in groups of 2 - 3 students.

Voice preparation:

In relation to the requirements and objectives of the first year, emphasis is placed on balancing the vocal range and its expansion, the ability to dynamically shade the voice, the development of musical imagination and the stylistic and expressive rendition of the studied compositions. The vocal literature takes into account the students' vocal and personality aptitudes and interests.

Ongoing preparation of repertoire for the CW in the LS includes:

a song or aria from the Baroque or Classical periods
an art song from the Romantic period
a song on children's texts or a song suitable for children's listeners
a piece composed after 1950
a composition of your own choice (your own instrumental accompaniment is possible - piano, guitar)

Instrumental preparation:

In the area of instrumental preparation the student develops his/her instrumental skills, in the process of studying individual compositions he/she learns the richness, depth and laws of musical art. Practical mastery of the interpretation of the chosen compositions enables the student to penetrate the content and structure of the compositions in detail and in depth. At the same time, he learns to master the instrument so that he can make the best use of it in school practice.

The student will study:
(a) piano - one polyphonic piece, two small pieces by 19th century composers and one piece by a Czech composer

b) violin - one piece from the Classical period, two pieces from the Romantic period, two small pieces by 20th century composers

The selection of compositions will reflect the possibilities of their didactic use in schools.

Improvisation (piano and violin) of folk song accompaniment (types of stylisations and other improvisation models with regard to the character of the songs).

During the semester the student will rehearse 20 songs with accompaniment, overture, including transposition into other keys.

Learning outcomes -

Student:

can play and sing compositions and songs suitable for use in pedagogical practice

interpret selected works and songs with respect to the given stylistic period

transpose folk songs with ease

creatively stylize the accompaniment of folk songs in harmony with their origin and character

discusses the composer and the selected composition in a historical context suitable for pedagogical purposes

characterises the interpreted compositions with regard to their methodological and didactic use.
