Cílem předmětu je seznámit studenty s teoretickým zázemím překladatelství a tlumočnictví. Obsah předmětu: Dějiny teorie překladu, stav současné teorie překladu, lingvistický a literárněvědný pohled na problematiku překládání, druhy překladu, detail a celek překládaného textu, problematika překladu titulu, zvláštní jazyková úskalí při překládání (interference, frazeologie, nulová ekvivalence), překlad beletrie, překlad odborného stylu, interkulturní aspekt překladu, pomocné vědy se zvláštním zřetelem ke konfrontační lingvistice,
