The aim of the course is to provide students with an insight into the development of German drama from the 17th century to the present day. The course will not only introduce the peculiarities of each period and its contribution to the development of German drama, but also trace its relevance to contemporary dramatic production. The main form of the seminar will be not only the interpretation of texts, but also the analysis of excerpts recorded in the media or the analysis of currently staged performances. Participation in the Prague German Theatre Festival is also a regular feature. The first part of the seminars and lectures, which builds on the literary disciplines of the Bachelor's degree, is devoted to the theoretical interpretation of the developmental tendencies in German drama in the context of the overall literary development and against the background of European political and intellectual developments. The second part of the seminars deals with modern drama from naturalism to postmodernism and the analysis of concrete examples of contemporary stage practice. Aesthetic appropriation and analysis of selected dramatic works. Development of communicative skills in relation to literary and cultural themes. A basic overview of contemporary theatre. Observation of different ways of interpreting classical works in the country and in the world.
