In the first part of the state doctoral examination the doctoral candidate introduces the dissertation to the committee, the focus of own research, the theoretical and methodological points of departure, and the current state of progress in with their dissertation (max. 15 minutes). This is followed by a discussion.
In the second part of the state doctoral examination, taking into account the dissertation topic the commission verifies the student's ability to place the research into the context of changing general assumptions (e.g. key theories, concepts, directions/schools and individuals) and methodological approaches in geography and related sciences/disciplines.
In addition to general knowledge, the examination is intended to verify the following skills: critical thinking, explaining the essence of a problem, distinguishing meaning, presenting arguments, placing a problem in broader contexts, general and specific differentiation, presenting relevant empirical examples, and drawing and formulating general conclusions.

V první části státní doktorské zkoušky doktorand komisi představí tematické zaměření, výzkumný problém, teoreticko-metodologická východiska a stav rozpracovanosti disertace (max. 15 minut). Následuje diskuze. Ve druhé části státní doktorské zkoušky komise s přihlédnutím k zaměření disertace ověřuje doktorandovu dovednost zařadit výzkumný problém do kontextu proměn obecných východisek (např. klíčové teorie, koncepty, směry/školy a osobnosti) a metodologických přístupů v didaktice geografie a dalších vědách, které participují na řešení sledovaného mezioborového problému (geografie, pedagogika, psychologie, obecná didaktika, geoinformatika, kartografie aj.). Zkouška ověřuje vedle odborných znalostí dovednost doktoranda kriticky myslet, vysvětlit podstatu problému, významově rozlišovat, argumentovat, zařazovat problém do širších souvislostí, rozlišovat obecné a specifické, uvádět relevantní empirické příklady, vyvozovat a formulovat zobecňující závěry.

Requirements to the exam -
To apply for the state doctoral examination, the student must complete all the requirements in their individual study plan and submit an electronic copy of the theoretical-methodological part of their dissertation.

Pro přihlášení ke státní doktorské zkoušce se vyžaduje splnění studijních povinností (předmětů) dle ISP a odevzdání elektronické verze textu Teoreticko-metodologické rozpravy disertační práce.
