Annotation -
Modern world is mostly based on products of chemical industry. According to current estimates, about 85% of all processes in chemical industry are catalysed by solid heterogeneous catalysts. The aim of the course is to provide the students with basic information about catalysis and application of heterogeneous catalysts in laboratory as well as in industry. The understanding of the functioning of catalysts, their behaviour during the catalytic reactions, synthesis approaches for their preparation and mechanisms of catalytic reactions are dicussed in a detail. In addition, experimental techniques frequently used in catalysis are also highlighted.
