Annotation -
The course introduces students to the basic themes of Christian spiritual life and their post-conciliar theological presentation. It finds its unifying centre in the three concepts of "spiritual theology", "spirituality" and "spiritual life". The course is mainly based on systematic theology, but also takes into account the findings of anthropological sciences. The first part of the course will focus primarily on the history of Christian spirituality, the emergence and development of spiritual movements or distinctive figures of spirituality in different historical periods. In addition to the institutional side, we will look primarily at the doctrine of the spiritual life that different currents and movements bring with them, and we will examine which elements of spiritual practice have worked well throughout history and which have proved critical.
