Students should demonstrate their mastery of English on the level B2 as well as their ability to discuss academic themes with the teacher. Assesment:30 pages of a chosen scholar text sent via email to the teacher in advance (approval needed). The text is meant as a base for the exam: discussion, comments, paraphrasing and summary (both, oral and written). It is required to prove their knowledge of academic writing. To prepare, the student has the option of enrolling in Academic English I. and II., i.e. KJAZ156 and KJAZ157 or KJAZ054 and KJAZ055 or KJAZ256 and KJAZ257.

Student s aktivní znalostí jazyka (B2 dle evropského referenčního rámce) v rozsahu celé mluvnice a schopností vyjadřovat se ke studijním tématům se na zkoušku samostatně připraví zopakováním mluvnice a průběžnou četbou kratší odborné literatury (odborné články v impaktovaných časopisech, hesla v odborných slovnících a encyklopediích, odborné internetové stránky). Prostuduje si zásady sumarizace a zásady akademického psaní. K přípravě má možnost zapsat si seminář Akademické angličtiny / Academic English I. a II., tj. KJAZ156 a KJAZ157 nebo KJAZ054 a KJAZ055 nebo KJAZ256 a KJAZ257.

Course completion requirements -
Students will prepare a text of 30 pages concerning their field of study. Based on their text, they will demonstrate their knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary in the discussion with the teacher. Finally, they will write a summary of the chosen extract. The text must be sent to the teacher in advance (to be approved).
Students with B2, C1, or C2 certificates (or those with a C1–C2 language proficiency level without a formal certificate) may use a shorter text for the exam (minimum 15 pages), preferably an article from an academic journal. They should be able to describe the topic, research question, methodology, and conclusions reached by the author.

Zkouška má ústní i písemnou část. Kandidát se dostaví ke zkoušce s jím vybraným a zkoušejícím předem schváleným (via email) cca 30-ti stránkovým odborným anglickým textem týkajícím se jeho oboru (popř. a nejlépe jeho bakalářské či diplomové práce). Přeloží zkoušejícímu vybranou pasáž do češtiny a bude schopen komentovat její obsah. Vysvětlí vybrané odborné termíny, prokáže znalost mluvnice na obměnách formulací. Na závěr napíše anglické resumé stanovené části textu.
Studenti s certifikátem B2 –C1 – C2, (popř. jazykovou úrovní C1 – C2 i bez certifikátu) mohou pro zkoušku použít rozsahově kratší text (min. 15 stran), nejlépe článek v odborném časopise. Budou schopni popsat téma, výzkumnou otázku, metodu a závěry, ke kterým autor dochází.
