Products of secondary metabolism of fungi, lower and higher plants are studied from the standpoint of producing drugs and pharmaceutical preparations for both special nutrition and therapy, including toxicological aspects. The subject deals with distinctive types of these compounds, with the sources of their origin, physicochemical properties, structure-activity relationships, methods of analysis, and classical and modern preparatory procedures. Possibilities of their practical usage are discussed as well.
