Seminars oriented on practical study of histological slides broaden knowledge of microscopic structures of basic tissue types. Students instructed by experienced histologists will practise identification of principal structures in tissues with the use of light microscopes. Moreover, the students become familiar with principles of processing digitalized images and modern tuition tools incl. library of histological slides, internet atlases, virtual microscopes and interactive images of histological slides. Embryology seminars add some information on first stages of embryonic development and summarize principles of formation of first embryonic structures. Subject will be finished with a credit which will be given to those who were present in all seminars.
Entry requirements: pre-requisites not given
Outcomes (subject Seminars in Basic Histology and Embryology):
1. the student acquires practical knowledge necessary for differential diagnosis for identification of human tissues at the level of light microscopy
2. the student will gain an overview of histological techniques incl. principles of processing digitalized images
3. the student will practice theoretical knowledge about the processes of early embryogenesis
